Hello all, as you can tell i am quite new to this forum but have spent sometime going through some of the posts.

I have a VW Camper at the moment but as the holiday season is coming up i am thinking of investing in a coach built camper. Can anybody recommend a reliable one ? I quite like the fiats.

Thanks

That's a very damming and sweeping dismissal of the chassis that is the base for a huge number of vans! How much time do you intend to spend in reverse? ;-)

It's well known and documented about the reverse judder on these early X250 model Fiats, my 08 Fiat Trigano Tribute suffered from this and nothing that Fiat tried fixed it so in the end I traded it in for a Ford based Motorhome, Auto roller 100 with fixed rear bed.

Hi,

We have a Rollerteam on a Fiat base absolutely love our motorhome, luckily no reverse judder on ours, the new Rollerteams look really nice on their website, seem good quality for a good price.

The Actual answer to your question is that all makes are much of a muchness & the older the vehicle the more important the general condition & service history becomes.

No modern base vehicle can be described as 'better' than any other really. As far as the actual body conversion goes, many would say the continental makes are better built than UK makes but a foreign built body will usually have habitation door on 'wrong' side for UK & possibly the steering wheel as well so you might prefer a UK built conversion for this reason.

You don't say where you are but there is a big show in Newark this weekend just off the A1 in Leicestershire where you will be able to have a good look around.

The layout behind the cab is much more important than the driving/cab area.

If you want to stay with a VW, Autosleeper did a coachbuilt conversion on the T4 transporter think its called a Topaz or Talisman.

Harleyjohn is definately NOT on his own with the problems with the reverse gear.(and he knows what he's talking about, having read his contributions) I followed lots of threads about this on the Trigano owners website and it was a major issue for some. For example, those having to reverse uphill to park on their driveways. I was lucky. I had an older 03/04 model, not affected. Buyer beware. Incidentally , this aside, Trigano Tribute(s) highly recommended.
