If you Google images for  Fiat Doblo and/or  Berlingo Campervan, you will see a good selection of what's available. Depending on engine choice you should find something fairly economical compared to the larger Ducato versions. There is also the earlier Romahomes based on Citroen vans to consider (as well as the new versions, of course.) Good hunting !

Our VW  Trooper.1999cc.We had it for 10 years and soled it early last year was used for everything.

 Diesal  about 32 mpg urban

.On a run about 38

Keepingto  just under 56mph  or even to 50 mph. This saves more than you tend to think on a run.

Depends on how old, or well it is kept. Would get another if we could afford it. So because we cannot we have to forget it. BUT we did find it a bit of a bind always having to use it all the time without anything smaller and easier to park in smaller places. But it was great for my wheelie.I loved driving it, where I do not this car we have now. Sitting high over others made it easy not only to drive but to see all round over others.

How about looking at the smaller vans you can get awnings for them to fit or throw over the back. for the stuff you have to take with you,

We find our Bilbo's VW T4 2.5diesel also returns close to 40mpg on a holiday. Keeping to 60mph makes a difference. It holds loads of wine too!. Don't forget to look at payload as well, some are pitiful, and require everyone to slim down, and keep water tanks emptied when travelling. Which rather defeats the whole quick set up advantage over a TT or tent/caravan. The driving position is superb, as mentioned above, especially in rain, fog or heavy traffic.

hi! am thrilled with my Fiat Doblo from Danbury.. mine is 1.3 diesel but they now start at? 1.6 ish - which wd be better for climbing hills.  It's my main vehicle too.  Does 15p mile.  'Dbl' bed is 6ft but narrow - fine for just me.. depends how cosy you like to be! can get rising roof or high roof.   I chose high roof as less to go wrong mentality and convenient for changing for watersports.. but suspect rising roof more economical on fuel? also high roof wdn't fit under 6ft bar for some car parks. In choosing model, they say everyone prefers more space for campervan side of it but you need to compromise with this if it's yr main vehicle and economy is an issue.  good luck

We have a quite new VW pop up roof 2.0 litre diesel campervan, the mileage is good, it's 2 metres high so will go under most barriers, parks neatly in a car space, and is a pleasure to own. It's not our only vehicle, but we use it regularly as everyday transport.
