hi ive got a VW T25 and the leisure battery wont last 24 hours.  after a run the charge on display panel says fully charged so split charger working and we dont use anything on 12v the light goes to red in 24 hrs. do i need to remove and charge or is battery dead. thanks

Sounds like you have a dead cell in the battery so it's new battery time. I use heavy duty batteries rather than the so called "leisure" batteries. Varta are an excellent make to look at

If leisure battery is under left hand front seat it will probably be a normal car battery as standard sized leisure battery is too tall to fit under T25 seat without some modifications. Car batteries used as leisure batteries have a fairly short life(maybe 2 yrs)but either way it sounds as if you need a new battery.

thanks for your feedback very usefull thanks.  my battery is in a cupboard under the sink unit and is quite big, found an old receipt for it and its 4 years old.

Try a trickle charge with separate charger until fully charged about 13v & then leave it for a day with nothing connected. If voltage has dropped right down then new battery is required.

It is possible that something faulty is drawing power & discharging battery while connected to van so that will be the next thing to check if battery does hold it's charge when removed & charged separately.

I hazard to suggest most places that deal primarily with car batteries simply cant test a leisure/deep discharge battery without doing it more harm than good. A prolonged low current drop test over several hours is needed not a short sharp high current one of a few seconds.
As already said Varta do some excellent medium priced leisure duty batteries as do Banner. There is a lot of budget and not so budget poor stuff out there so be wary; basic rule is lead is heavy, expensive and vital for a good battery; if it is light weight for its claimed rating it is 'light weight in every sense'. Ideally look for the protection given by one meeting EN 50342, where the capacity in AH is quoted at C20 [or K20 in some countries] a 20 hour test. Good reading is the Caravan Clubs technical article of October 2010.

Unfortunately from what you say about yours it looks to me that you are into spending money; spend it wisely.
