Had our first weekend away in our motorhome and realised that the onboard water tank wont be enough for long stays on site.
We are going to France in July and will be using a site as a base to see the area by train and bus. - Paris being one of the places and while I appreciate the mobility of a motorhome there is no way that DH will drive there!
Now we have an external pump and a connector outside which looks to have a screw connection and 2 holes in the middle.
Anyone any idea how we would connect to this and then the water hog?
This is a submersible pump (possibly by Whale). The submersible bit goes in your water container (Aquaroll, water hog or similar) and the other end should have an electrical connection which plugs into your 2 hole connector and a pipe which goes into the fresh water tank in the motorhome.
I used to have a Lunar Telstar and that was how mine operated - it wasn't useable as a way to directly give you a bigger reservoir of fresh water, but as a convenient way to top up the internal tank. When your vehicle fresh water tank is getting low, you wheel the water hog to the tap and fill it, wheel it back to the van, connect the external pump, which then decants the water from the hog into the on-board tank, disconnecting the pump when the hog is empty. On a long stay on site, it's a lot easier than driving the motorhome off pitch to the service point!
hi dont know about yours but we have a 12v pump that you just plug into any 12v socket(on on dash would do) and i carry a 25l container so just fill up the internal tank with this. You can get the pumps for less than £20 and all you need is a short length of hose. You might find your pitch in France has its own water supply so may only need a hose pipe.
I use 2 15ltr colapsable containers to top up water when on site for more than few days, also most pitches nowadays have a tap right on your pitch - why complicate the issue, use a hose if close enough, the colapsable route means do not take up much space, idea when coming back with wine and beer
