Hi again Motormum, Most of the above info for you is factual and informative, and that is what this forum is all about, so let us know how you get on with your 'new' holiday experience. For that is what holidaying is, in a 'van'. It should be leisurely and exciting, pleasurable and stressfree. We had a caravan, pre 2008, and have been out with our van ever since. Everyone out 'camping' will be helpfull, we are mostly all the same. When you arrive on site you will be observed from every direction by fellow campers......Just 'hook up' get your chairs out, put the kettle on and tea/coffee in hand sit on your chairs, and stare back at 'us'. It will not be long before your strike up conversation. Having your daughter with you is an advantage.....kids are just as nosey as adults. Setting up for the first time should not be daunting if you have had all the details given to you by the company you hired/bought from. Its a lot to take on board verbally at the hand over, and dont be afraid to ask questions if anything is unclear. Make sure you are given a handbook/manual for the vehicle for you to check anything 'he' may have missed or that you should have asked about. Salesmen just love to use terms that mean nothing to a novice, and we are still learning little important things now. Dont load the van with stuff you will not need, and try to choose a site that has washing up facilities.....when washing up everyone talks with everyone....its the place to learn things about the area, and ask questions about things you know nothing about......someone will be happy to show off their knowledge. Like I said earlier, just do it.....you will have a good laugh, and a good time. But sometimes may think to yourself , why is everything so complicated, well I have the answer to that one for you......most of the stuff you will encounter is made for men, by men, and designed with them in mind....that sentence in itself, by a man,may attract a few coments.Hey Ho......enjoy m'lady its a big country we all live in, an an experience for us all to share.
