We've just dropped our AA breakdown "membership", after being with them for over twenty years...
We found that their renewal premiums were getting ridiculously high..and when they were unwilling to match the prices that THEY were offering other folk online(for the same cover etc),we told 'em to stick it..!
We've now got far better, all singing and dancing cover from Greenflag(inc' "Dual recovery"),through the CC,for around 60 odd quid...and that's less than half what the AA were asking us for...
Edit: Sorry Off the main topic ..but I've just remembered another reason we dropped the AA..
The OH had her car insured with/through them..and when the renewal came through last autumn,on searching the online comparison sites,it was 100-150quid+ higher than other major companies(Churchill,Admiral etc),for the same type of cover.Even their own online quotes that came up were a lot cheaper(again, for the same cover/features).
One AA quote, even included 12 months FREE breakdown cover!..but when we contacted them about it,bizarrely they said that WE would only get the 4 months because that would take us to when our existing breakdown cover was due for renewal(..so in effect, they'd be "doubling up" the cover for those 4 months)..and they knew we'd be unlikely to renew our breakdown cover,if they'd already included cover with the car insurance!...
Hence,I told 'em to shove it!
