We are looking at fulltime Rving. we have done so much research, and planning. but i would love to speak with other people who full time in an RV.

The states are so geared up for it, and there are resources everywhere, but very little in the uk.

i have many random questions i'd love to ask full timers, and would love to hear their personal experiences. does anyone know of a good place for me to find this.

Can I suggest a look at this website and forum;

http://www.wildcamping.co.uk

Free to sign up and loads of advice I am currently converting a LWB Iveco for my wife and I to full time in next year as we have had enough of the day to day grind so plan on selling up and travelling for a while.

Thanks ever so much. will take a look. we are tied to the area because of work, but have arranged somewhere to park up during the week, so will only be travelling weekend & holidays.

we are debating between a winnebago adventurer, or a coachman aurora. that'll be a head vs heart decision. just all the finances taking forever to get together. and the excitment of doing this is taking over :)

here's a couple of forums I'am a member of, the first is mainly fulltimers

www.motorhome365.com

the second also has a lot of fulltimers and also a lot of RV users, first five post's are free but after that there is a yearly subscription of £10, I think the info, and the possible meets are worth the fee, there are also a couple of RV's up for sale at the moment, you can find it here;

www.motorhomefun.co.uk

have to say it's a great life we have been doing it since November 2006 first using a caravan, but I have just finished building a motorhome for us based on a 7.5 ton Iveco Eurocargo, been using that for the last month or two,

Thanks for the links. will definitely check them out. this is something i've always wanted to do. i love hearing that 'its a great life' thats re-assuring.

OH has spoken to his boss and we have permission to park there during the week. as was concerned we'd end up with no-where to park, and be shooed away like gypsies.

do you have a fixed site? or are you pretty much traveling constant? do you ever get any problems? we have to stay local for work. so can only travel during holidays and weekends.

Hi jdphoenix
We have been f/t for eight years now in the uk and we love it, there are so many places you visit that are off the the beaten track which you would never see and you meet lots of people along the way.
Good luck on your travels you never know our paths may cross one day

We are much as you seem to be , I still have to work  so we have to stay within a reasonable distance, a friend of ours has a CS site so we stay there more or less all the time with the occasinal night or two away, even though we could stay on our family business premises I prefer to get away from work .Once you get going search out the local CL's / CS's  most owners  will become more helpfull as they get to know you and it;s a break and a chance to meet people at the weekends at minimal cost,

Sorry, another quick question...

would any of you be able to recommend insurance companies? we have found one from an RV mag, we are trying to get some approx quotes, but only having one, we have no idea if its a good deal, or if there are many companies out there dealing with RVs.

Comfort are a very good specialist motorhome insurance company. You do need to let them know that you are full-timing, it needs to e shown on the policy document.

well of course we would, with everything we own with us, i'd want to have the most comprehensive insurance possible.

why did you say that? are some insurance companies reluctant to insure you if you full-time?

We have been Fulltiming for almost two years now, we use the CL's and CS's (5 van sites) most have hook-up but in the summer we don't bother too much, relying on our two batts and the solar panel.
Our Insurance is through Saga.
We use the Gaslow system for our gas, refillable system. All our gadgets are geared to charge on 12volt as well as mains.
We go where and when we fancy, usually!

Thanks guys. the finances are moving forward now so hopefully not long before we're joining you all :)

I am very unsure of the batteries and power sources, and have visions of becoming a right hitler over anything being turned on. i hear people say oh it lasts ages, but i need to know exactly how long 'ages' is, i know it depends on usage.

my OH spoke to local dealer the other day and he was really dismissive about solar panels. i think they are a fab idea and definitely something we should have, so i need to go back to the dealer and ask why he was dismissive, from what my OH says he didnt think they'd be effective enough to worry about.

Also concerned with availability of sewage outlets. i know of one locally, but it along the canal for the boats, not accessable to us. is it only certain camp sites that have an effluent tank we can empty into or are there any anywhere else?

My biggest concern is warmth and safety. i have a very pampered parrot, and his safety and comfort is paramount to me. i can easily wrap up to keep warm, but he will need adequate heating. i think we've been planning this so long, my mind has covered all mannner of worries and thoughts lol. its such a big thing to do. just want to e as prepared as possible.

and where can i buy 'the special toilet paper' i dont think they do it at tesco do they?

Do NOT buy special toilet paper. Just use cheap Bog standard stuff. We normally buy the cheapo Hypermarket packs in France and they work well.
