I have used a tomtom xxl and the GO 910 to travel to Italy/France/Spain/Portugal, it  is very easy to use and you can download some stuff on it from the tomtom home service. But i must say this the xxl, it is not as good as the tomtom GO  910, although it has a slightly smaller screen, the difference is it has am amazing hard drive of 20 gb. there is no gps on the market at the moment and there has never been another that offers that, the new ones now offer the facility to use an external sd card for extra memory/usage requirements. On my tomtom go 910 i have poi.s galore, hundreds of campsites and aires all over europe and still i have more room to put my favourite music and my grandkids photos on it and still i have about 14 gb left.  Look it up on google, and i'm thinking of selling it if interested by the way the reason i have 2 tomtom's is my son bought the xxl for me last year when i was complaining of not being able to see the screen clearly at a certain distance, i wear glasses hence the problem.

We have used TomTom for several years now when touring France and Spain and not once have they sent us wrong. We first had a Go910 and that was replaced with our current one a Go Live 1000 Europe which is excellent in all ways

Hi I have a Garmin 465T, Lifetime Traffic Alerts and auto re-routing and Lifetime Map Updates. But whats best is that you can switch it from car mode to truck mode, you enter the length, width and height and away you go. Last year traveled to Northern Spain and the year before Northern Italy and couldn't fault it. I always used to swear by TomTom but impressed with the Garmin.

Hi
Buy any "snooper" they log weight, length and height and keep you on suitable roads; also list many campsites throughout UK and EU (ASCI etc). I have both snooper and Tom Tom and the snooper has the edge

Not used it abroard Tina...thats one reason why I give you credit for all that you are about to do!...wish we had the get up and go that you have. BUT anyway we have a TOMTOM...and its old as hills, and has never ever let me down...we holiday in Spain, and we have wandered with it in our hand...and its spot on always...and simple to use. Bit like the first cell/mobile phones we had they were Nokia...and they still are nokia...as They dont change the way things work...just make em able to do/hold more info...just like wineciccio says...easy and reliable. Thomas everytime.1717

i have bought a tomtom camper and caravan live model!! it seems to be the mutts... i am suitably impressed, as is my 17 yr old techy son, so all is good.. am just about to upload apps for telling me where the mcd's are ( for free wifi) and all the french municple campsites are.
AUSTINS.. i wanted to do this trip while the kids are still with me.. have lost the eldest to uni, so shouldve done it a couple of years ago!! we have camped (tents) since they were all babies, so i know roughly how it will be! but now, with a disabled child, things have had to change, so the MH was the way forwrd, and we still get to 'camp'.
i have promised the kids, IF this trip is successful, then we will tour scandinavia next year, around visiting my sister in Denmark.
my whole idea has been to NOT plan too much. hopig that way we will go with the flow!
you should just do it!! whnat is there to lose??! x

Well there YOU go then....but I am not acoming. I used to drive, up to April this year 35,000 miles a year, and sometimes more. I have time on my hands now, and just do not think that driving abroard would be much of a holiday for either of us...reckon we would be at each others throats...even tried to get Winneciccio to take my wife with him went he went off to Spain....he would not have her, and between the pair of us (Him and Me) we were nearly struck off the forum, we were told we would never win husband of the year ...but we had a laugh all of us, and should we ever recognise one another whilst touring U.K...I am sure we will all share a bottle of his favourite RED STUFF...but believe me...hes paying.

I think we ( you and I and some of the others) have sorted most 'things' between us, 17and I would just like to say power to your elbow lady...and have a wonderfull time. The weather here may match any you are about to encounter...but I dont mind any weather....we both fish...and fish are not much good out of water. Go grab it kid, and enjoy your selves. Let us know all about it.17
