looks like i might have made a faux pas with the timings!!

i have to drive from portsmouth to watford... then from watford to folkestone. this week... any idea how long the drive will take me!! have to be at folkestone by 6pm.

i am not used to rush hour traffic.. we dont get one! (well we do.. it lasts about 15 minutes, so not technically a rush hour!!)

was hoping to spend a few hours break in watford before setting off again :(

so any helpful advice on liklihood of length of journey... and will it be effected by the olympics in any way?

and BEFORE anyone tries to slate me for not looking into it sooner... i did.. i google map-ped it.. but they reckon just over an hour and half to get to watford.. andjust under 2 hours to get from watford to folkestone.

but i have recently found out that it will take longer

Portsmouth to Watford, according to M/S Autoroute takes 1hr 17m. All I can say is that on closed roads and using a Ferrari maybe.

Keep in mind that part of your journey involves the M25 and that has been described as the largest car park in Europe

According to my tom tom ( that should take into account how busy the roads are at a given time)

Leaving home at 2pm on Friday will get you to Folkstone at 5.49 pm via Watford. This is without stopping. Distance is 189 miles. 

I put in limited speed of 60mph max. This route involves a toll.

This allows for average rush hour Friday traffic, Who knows what the Olympic traffic may add.
