Hi All. We have a five year old grandson who is eager to come away with us in the van. We have an elddis suntor 400 rl with u-shaped lounge( no rear seat belts). My question is this....Can a child seat be used in the front of the van legally in the passenger seat?
Many Thanks. Bats
We have an Elddis 120 Sunseeker and last year we had our grandson away with us for a few days. We had his childs car seat fitted to the cab pass. seat without any problem. We passed and were passed by several police cars on the roads and not one of them said anything. We were even diverted at police point by a traffic cop who just waved us thru'. Along as the seat is securely fastened thenthere should be no problem.
If you have no rear belts, you can legally carry a child in a front seat, however safety-wise you should not do so if you have an airbag unless you can switch it off. Airbags go off with such force they can seriously injure a young child.
irrespective to if you have rearmseatbelts or not, as long s air bags are turned off...wherever your child is safestp is the safest place... this has been verified by police when i had a toddler that escaped from carmseats.. was much safer for her to be in front passenger seat.
