I agree with Pepe63.I book the sites we want in December so that we will not be disappointed.I had six bookings to cover the year until Christmas. If we want to go at any other time we just ring the site and try to get a cancellation. It's not the fault of the CC it's just that caravanning has become so popular that demand has outgrown supply. The majority of CC members probably book a long way in advance as I do.It's definitely not 'cherry picking' to pick the sites you want. I booked Seacroft, Southport,Strid, Bridlington, Wirral and Rowntree Park. One for two weeks and the others for long weekends. These sites are always booked up during the summer so that's why I book early. It's not what I prefer to do but it is what I have to do. I'm sorry but that is what you have to do these days. Twenty years ago booking sites wasn't a problem but caravanning wasn't as popular then.We are often disappointed because we sometimes can't get a weekend where we want but that's how it is so we just find somewhere else.
To avoid being disappointed because you can't book a popular site during school holidays or a bank holiday just book in December. If you do have to cancel nearer the time then as far as I am concerned that's fine. It opens a pitch up for someone else. It's all swings and roundabouts these days. I think the CC is still a great club with brilliant sites and I am glad I am a member and have been for twenty five years.
