Hi all,
Would like to visit the black forest area of Germany some time next year and would appreciate recommendations for a suitable camp site, quiet, rural and within walking distance of small village.
Also, suggested leasurely travel time from French or Belgium port with similar sites to stay en route.
Kind Regards
Richard

Just returned from the Blackforest. We travelled down through Begium and Germany from Calais to the Rhine valley and then on to Bavaria. We were very disappointed by the German motorways - we got held up by road works so many times and it was very frustrating.
On the return journey from the Blackforest we decided to travel back up through France, Lux, Belgium (avoiding the tolls) and it was so much better. We did not get held up once (and you can go a bit faster towing too!). We went Colmar, St Die de Vosges (take tunnel peage to get here though 17 Euros), Nancy, Metz, Luxembourg, Namur, Tournai, Dunkirk. Took about 7 and a half hours.
I can recommend Muenstertal Camping - a bit pricey but we loved it. The best facilities I have ever come across. Was a bit of a walk into the nearest town of Staufen (which was lovely) but an easy 10-15 mins on a bike. Beautiful area, lovely weather and lots to see and do.
