Folks,

I have a friend who has been offered a Holdsworth Tempo Peugeot and is not sure if he is allowed to drive it on his licence as he has not been able to work out what it weights - we have looked everywhere and not managed to come up with anything.

Does anyone know the answer or a good method of finding the right answer?   I fear a call to the DVLA coming on!

If you google image for a picture you will see its just a smallish campervan so ok on a post '97 car licence unless towing a caravan as well.

Looking at pictures of it , it is the same van my AS Symbol is based on. My weight is 3300,so ok on a normal licence

strange that you can't find out the weight of the vehicle, even converted it should weigh less than the stated gross vehicle weight which should be stated on a plate somewhere on the body possibly under the bonet on left inner wing or in one of the door checks, if not on the body wouldn't it be on the registration document, as long as the gross weight is less than 3500kg  your friend will be ok.

The weight will be on the V5C, section 4, part [Y].
It MUST be on there. no ifs no buts. Its a legal document that has to have that info for insurance purposes etc, get them to check it again

Good Morning

can someone set me straight we are buying a motor home which is .3400 kg I know we can drive up 3500kg does that weight have  to include myself and my husband and all my personnal items including water/gas /petrol my husband is saying we have to weigh everything before it goes in in case we are overloaded  lot of hard work if you ask me sure other people don't go to all this trouble don't think he is right  help please

Yes. It's the maximum laden weight.

Load it up and take it to a public weighbridge. It will cost a small amount, but then you know how much (if any) headroom you have for future trips.

It's not given on my V5 - I assume you mean where it says:
[Y] Revenue Weight - mine has nothing written in there.

Certainly possible - my weight plate includes the VIN, which (phew) matches the stamped VIN on the chassis.

If it were a cheap ringing operation then removing the riveted on plate would help disguise any mis-matches...

I wonder what would happen if you were subject to a random stop by VOSA at one of their checkpoints and your motorhome had no plate anywhere to be found on it? How would they know if you were over the maximum laden weight limit?

I have a better idea think I will leave the beer that's not needed ,17

will be sorting out a weighbridge that was something we had not thought of should only need to do it once to get to know what's what don't you think must remember to travel light
