To minimise the risk of expensive but minor scrapes we have fitted a reversing camera, my wife has done the C&CC manoeuvring course and wehave learned to always look up as well as forward when driving.

And Then......

Your mother reverses into you pride and joy on your own drive when she came to visit - tow bar beaks through the rear valence and then pulls out the pop rivets when she pull away.

£260 plus VAT for the valence and the rip-off dealer wants £360-£400 to remove the old and fit the new one - local fitter who does our hab service and fits our accessories says he will do it for £60.

Either way its an expensive mishap without leaving our own driveway.

Sounds like your mother needs to go on a manoeuvring course if anybody.  

Why don't you claim the damage from her insurance and let her pay both yours and her excess fees? After all, it was her fault and possibly cheaper doing it that way plus if it's an isurance job you are more likely to get a first class repair in the process.

I recently bought a 2001 motorhome,the Ist thing I did when I got it home was to reverse it into the side of my car

Yes ...I would believe it as something similar happened to me. We had just taken delivery of a brand new Ford car...many years back. I was working in the front of the house in the garden, had a huge burn pile already to go. Went out the back for the wheel barrow to shift the stuff, and as I collected the barrow,thought ah...new car on drive I will use the side entrance. So I did and wheeled the barrow across the front of the property to gain access to drive and front garden...parked the barrow and went into house for car keys...to shift car out of the way....Promptly reversed the car into said barrow...requiring a new paint job on rear quarter and offside rear door. Nobody to blame but myself.17

Ive disconnected our reversing camera. Because of the wide-angle view it was impossible to gauge just how close things were. Its easier to gauge it from the rear view mirrors.
