It's me again. Pete says we should look at a smaller motorhome with an attachable annexe for extra room. We would probably park somewhere for a week/month and use our car for exploring. So it would be worth it, but I haven't been able to find one with an annexe, only an awning. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Jules
Hi, Not quiet sure what you mean ? There generally are 2 ways to extend the living area of your motorhome ?
One is to use the pre-fitted roll out awning (fitted up high on the side of the MH) you roll this out and it protects you from Sun or Rain, you can then buy side and end panels which attach to the rolled out awning and it forms a additional room, there are a number of different components that can be purchased for this type of arrangement have a look on the Fiamma web site.

The second type is a stand alone awning which normally is named a Drive away awning for the very reason that with a bit of fiddling it can be left standing on the site and you can use your motorhome to go out for the day ?. These come in various types and sizes some very light weight and others more substantial with prices to match range from approx £150 to £500 the choice is yours.
Hi, When looking for a Motorhome to possible live in or perhaps more appropriately to use for extended holidays ??
One of the many things you should take into account is the carrying capacity you are left with after all the essentials are loaded, as this is not unlimited and perhaps more importantly its a legal requirement not to exceed ?
You will come to find that a lot of motorhomes are very poorly designed in this regard, so be very careful when selecting the vehicle, ask what the carrying capacity is, then do a bit of googling on the specific vehicle you are interested in and ask the question about the carrying capacity.
The reason I have mentioned it now is that you are asking about additional equipment which all deducts from your carrying capacity
hi Enodreven,
Thanks for your rally good advice. we had a trailer tent where the add on "lounge" area was called an annexe so that's where that comes from. Yr first suggestion sounds like a good plan. That's what I'll look for. re the carrying capacity, I will only take 2chairs extra as we can use the table from inside the motorhome. things like the usual cooking pans, crockery etc should easily fit into the load capacity. we plan to take few clothes and wash more often. I so refer minimalist while travelling.
Thanks for yr advice
Julia
