hello can anyone help me get around this problem. I want to plug in my tv and seperate dvd, I only have one 3 three point plug socket with a 12 volt plug socket next to it. Is it possible to use an 2 point adapter in my three point plug to enable me to watch dvd's on the t.v. without blowing the fuses. Thanks Im better in the galley cooking than fiddling with electrics lol.

Hi Grumparse, (my kids wanted me to call myself something similar your your 'handle'  )

The load of a TV and a DVD player on 240 volts will not be heavy so I would suggest a 2 way adapter would be fine.

Why not, if space allows though, don't you fit instead, a double 240 volt socket in place of the sngle one currently there ? Just make sure you disconnect from the mains before swapping the wires over first. ( I don't like those double and triple adapters, as they tend to fall out due to their weight, and the 'pull' of the cables.)

Hope this helps,

Bill.

Bill.

You could buy one of those extension socket things which has a 13A plug at one end, about 1 metre of cable and a strip of sockets, some have up to 6 sockets.  This would let you plug in several items but it does not mean you should use them all at once. If it is only appliances that use little power then it would be ok, but not say a kettle and a heater together. If you keep plugging and unplugging things then the cable near the plug is much more likely to get damaged and become dangerous

You can get one of these socket strips at a very reasonable price in several places.....Ikea...B+Q.....Makro....Lidl....Argos.....etc.

Hi Debbie, similar to Jennifer's suggestion, I made up a 4 way extension lead which goes from the single mains outlet to just over the table. I fix the extension sockets on the wall using Velcro, then I can run the TV etc as well as a kettle or the coffee maker or a fan heater without causing a problem and it is better to wear out an easily replaced extension than the one fitted to the M/H. Although I've used this on the last 9 holidays and it is still fine.

Phil.

Yep    you can never have too many sockets!!   Our van came with 4 fitted and the first OH did was fit an extra one.   Then he got a 4 way extension and screwed it on the floor under one seat.  Now he uses that for his laptop/battery chargers/etc/etc.  Means less "spaghetti" on the floor, couldn't possibly leave all the hi-tech stuff at home could he!!!??????????
