Had a look and couldn't find any topics on this. I have a problem where my waste water from my bathroom sink and kitchen sink actually comes back up through the shower waste water. All pipes join together under the caravan to form one outlet which I then connect to my grey waste water collection tank. This also happens when I use mains drainage so its nothing to do with the tank being full. I believe there isn't alot of drop between the shower plug hole and where the pipes all join together. I have hunted high and low for a one way flow valve to fit on the outlet pipes but can't find anything. Has anyone had the same problem and if so cured it or any ideas how I can cure it.
Just to also mention that all waste pipes are clear and are not blocked.

I had the same problem, I solved it by running a new pipe from the shower to the back of the van and using two flexy pipes to link into the wastemaster. You can get all the parts cheaply from your local dealer or ebay.

Obviously, you have to make sure your van is at least level to get some drainage. I tended to overdo the levelling slightly to give the drainage a chance.

But,i also went down Taxaters route to some extent by rerouting the sink waste - which took an age to drain, as it had been routed up and over a cross-member underneath. Essentially it was draining up-hill to start with.

Dont assume it has all be plumbed correctly at the manufacturers!

Thanks for coming back to me.
I was hoping not to have to go down the new pipe route but it looks like I may have to. Although I will try the level idea first. It could be something as simple as that as it has only happened the last few times I have been out in the caravan (only had the van for 8 months).

Any more ideas are more than welcome please keep them coming.

You need the van to be near enough level when pitched for various reasons - not least rolling out of bed! But if you are tilted away from the plughole by any degree at all, you are going to struggle for good drainage every time. You pipework is very narrow compared to home waste pipes, and itll likely be constricted to some degree by crud, unless you have given it a good flush through with bleach or something (cue the screams never to use bleach - on wastepipes???)So you need to make sure the drain direction is going the right angle - which is obviously 'down' to outside.

Thanks for you comment. I do my best to make sure everythign is level. However with the weather this 'summer' being not so dry I may have not spent as much time as I should getting things level.

Hi,
The reason that water would come up in the shower tray is because of a blockage.

I would use a wet and dry vacuum to clear all the pipes or take them apart and clean them. The blockage will be after the 2 pipes meet.

A one way valve is not the best solution, but they are available, although in 40mm size so you would have to adapt to the size of the waste pipes.

Also google HEPVO for a similar alternative.

When you say that the pipes are not blocked how do you actually know? If you pour water down the pipes the waste may flow out but could be restricted by debris somewhere in the drainage pipe. It's not unusual to get a blockage occasionally as there have been other threads on here with similar issues in the past but what I normally do is use a small rubber plunger on the offending waste outlet and dislodge any foreign matter that way. I'm not saying it is the problem but this has always sorted it for me in the past. The posts mentioning about having the vehicle level is absolutely right because if it's not level it could possibly cause slow drainage and in extreme circumstances not drain at all so I would check this simple test first to see if it solves your problem.

Thanks guys for your help. Will try and methods mentioned and take my rubber plunger with me next time just to check for this.

I went to my local caravan dealer and had a quick look under other caravans of the same age and not one had the outlets running into shower outlet. So I guess it might have been a design fault that has been changed.

Any other options and view most welcome
