Hello,

My OH is thinking of getting a VWT25 for carrying our tent and equipment etc, but mainly for surfboards, and all the kit for sea sports,  anyway,  what is the general rule for taking these onto campsites,  are they allowed ?,  are they classed as a car ? or a motorhome ? sorry if that sounds really stupid but they are really big,  also,  what is the difference between the T25 adn T30 ? I would be really greatfull for any advise at all,  thanks

No such thing as a T30, just a T25 as it is known in the UK & T3 on the continent, same van. Provided van looks reasonably like a campervan you should be ok on campsites. If it has at least a couple of fitted side windows & properly fitted bed/cooker/sink then it is a campervan. Even with windows/curtains/bed & no fitted cooker etc(ie Multivan/Caravelle)although not legally then a campervan a campsite would probably regard it as one. If it is a panel van with no side windows then they might object.

Another problem if you are young is insurance. If its legally a campervan(ie on V5)then insurance should be reasonable. If it is a(for example)an imported lhd German Multivan model with windows/curtains & folding bed it is actually a 7 seater car so insurance could be very high. So your best bet will be to buy a T25/T3 that is actually a camper.

T25 specfic website club80-90, plenty of related info on there.
