Hello everyone!

I'm a camper but recently bought a van that's been nicely converted into a camper in the back with fold down bed, sink, plumbing, electrics etc and its great.

I use it mainly to get my camping equipment plus mountain bikes into where they can be safely stored out of sight.

I'm now looking at getting a drive - away awning and wonder what you folks here use, think about and recommend and advise to steer clear of.

Having recently bought an airbeam inflateable tent, I like the idea of an inflateable, awning too and I see a few around ( Kampa, vango and maybe Outwell? )

Any ideas, thoughts, things to look out for and avoid all very welcome.

My van is ford transit, mwb medium roof with side and back doors.

the vango sapera is a nice looking inflatable awning. seems to be a bit thin on the ground though, and not many bargains, so expensive

We have a Royal Traveller 3 drive away awning & attach it to the gutter rail via the pole that comes with it.

http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk?cmid=OFZLT0VOdzhuems9&afid=TFZiTXhReW9Mcjg9&ats=ODA1QUR5VmZXY2c9/royal-traveller-3-motor-awning.html

It cost £70 from ebay & we can pitch it quickly. We've had no problems with high winds/gales as it's rock solid once it's pegged down.

Hi
We have a movelite xlf driveway awning..
Its massive with an extra self contained bedroom annex (big enough for 2 double bedrooms.)
Fits extremely well to our van too. Which is over 2.5m high
Its not inflatable tho

Measure the height from the ground to the awning fitting rail or roof gutter (whichever you have), and ensure that what you buy is suitable for that height. Some are designed specifically for smaller panel van conversions.

We have one of these for our Vivaro campervan, it's a Kampa Travel Pod Midi, which fits up to 2.1m in height and has 3 fiberglass poles. It goes up really easy and has a built in groundsheet. We've only used it once so far but no complaints.

I have the OR Touring XLS awning which is very quick and easy to put up with the added bonus of an attached 2 berth bedroom pod.

We bought a Khyam Driveaway XC.

It is big. 2 bedrooms and stacks of space in the main area. It replaced our smaller old fashioned, heavy, leaking one. We have a large camping group. Its well made, we havent ripped it yet, and very waterproof with 5000HH and sewn-in groundsheet.

It might be too big for your needs but they do smaller in the same range. We studied them for a while and for us it has turned out to be the right choice.
