You should have a plate on your vehicle somewhere(on door pillar or bonnet slam),that will show several weights:
-Gross weight(eg 3300kg,3500kg etc)
-Front axle load
-Rear axle load
-Train weight(the max loaded weight of van and trailer)
Really, to be accurate,you'll need to weigh your van(in "going away mode",if that's when you'll be towing),to see what's left over for the trailer..
(Something to note.The front and rear axle figures will add up to more than the gross vehicle weight).
