Can anyone tell me how to run a motorhome without water in the tank, we want to empty the tank and run on empty and just use site facilities but when we start to empty the tank a bleeper goes off on the control panel. We are new to this as you can see!
We almost always run on (nearly) empty and only ever fill up on arrival... Saves a lot of weight and therefore fuel. As for your buzzer.. Maybe you have a warming with your boiler and water levels...
Husband not here so its my womans view point. We have a control panel and you can turn off the water button, would this stop your beeper going. We run on empty all the time.

Thanks for replies, we have tried turning off the water button and it bleeps / flashes Intermittently to tell us the water level is low, I think we will have to completely empty it and press a few button as an experiment to see what makes it stop???? will try that in the next few days and post back what has happened
As long you have the 12 volts power panel on the bleeper will sound, the only way round is to put some water in the tank and make sure its slightly above the sender. But may I ask what is the purpose of all this, you have a tank to use, I can understand not having it full travelling due to weight and fuel consumption, but on site I honestly don't see the problem.
Hi Wineciccio, I agree with you, but my OH wants to drain it down - I guess he just wants to leave it empty at the end of the season, but still use the van for days out or odd days on site in the winter
Ours "beeps" when empty but only for a couple of times when we first switch the control panel on.....
If it continually beeped, as I assume yours does, then as we tend to use our van fully drained down during winter and as our tank is inboard under the seat, I'd probably just lift the seat and try removing the wire(s) from the sender(which I assume is where it would get it's signal)
..not very elegant..but worth a try...
I suppose you could look into installing a switch somewhere in the line(...but it you did, think of the next owner and make sure you label it!...as there's nowt worse than coming across unlabelled/unknown switches.. )
I suppose there may be a fuse that could be pulled?(..although having said that, how likely it is that a water gauge/beeper would have it's own fuse,I don't know..).
for winter drain down purposes your control panel has an on /off switch,so as long as you do not switch on the panel then the bleep will not come on. If you need to switch on the panel with no water in the tank the bleeping should only continue for a few seconds
