Hi All

We are trying without success to fill our water tank up on our motor home ducati mohican, we are testing this as not really wanting to carry water whilst travelling to site as uses more diesel.

Please can anyone advise on what is the best way for when we get to site to fill this.

We have used previously hosepipe but don't think campsite would let us use from water tap.

Also tried long spouted watering can, water carrier with funnel placed in hole for water to go into....all with no success as the water keeps leaking out and don't know if this is the normal or not.

Can anyone help a frustrated newbie

You can buy blue hoses for filling the water which are quite acceptable on sites. They're only a few pounds for 5 metres. Then you'll need an attachment, like you have with a garden hose, to attach to the tap.

When I fill mine, I have a large funnel (I bought mine in Halfords for £4.99 but have seen them in the cheap shops for about £1) with a short hose attached to it. That goes into the water inlet and you fill up through the funnel. It helps if you've got a third hand to hold the funnel up, of course! I've got a piece of string on mine and attach it to a vent above the inlet to hold it up.

We always travel full and use a normal hose to fill up at sites.....UK and Europe.

Have a few different hose adaptors.

Angel'..

What makes you think a site won't let you fill up from the tap, using a hose?...that's exactly how the majority of MHers fill up(..and one of the first thing caravanners do, is fill  40ltr aqua rolls anyway...).

Having said that, nowadays,we tend to arrive on site with enough water "to be getting on with",as it saves any possible faffing' about on arrival(...Also,as I've mentioned recently on another thread, not all sites are set up for MHs,so the tap may require a long hose to reach anyway).and if we do see ourselves running a bit low, we just refill a 10ltr plastic container/couple of 2ltr plastic bottles, use that for drinking and save what's in the tank for washing/loo flushing....

In the general scheme of things, if driven steadily(and not thrashed!),a few extra KGs of water in a MH tank will make little(if any!)noticeable difference to the fuel consumption...

Hi
Just as EJB986 said, we also fill up on site with a hosepipe and never had any problems doing so. We just top up as and when with a watering can.

your site fee includes water ,so sites have motorhome points water and waste fill and drop..if you have a good blue hose you can fill up at any tap subject to getting van near..i also fill vans take half full to travel to our first site then fill up next day and never worry about the cost of travelling with a full tank ....

Most sites we've been on ask us if we need to fill up with water before showing us to the pitch I think it is expected with MH s.
