Hi all, thinking on a Lesharo, i have liked them for a while but i have just looked on the internet about them, now i know Renault are not the best bet for running gear but what i want is feed back from actual user of these small campers. I would be buying a running project and i am good with the mechanics and body work etc to get it fixed up and going, i have even thought about fitting a better engine but then its the G box etc etc, i have done it before but i am past doing all that.

So any user can give me feed back i would be gratefull.

cheers

Mines Renault traffic based front wheel drive 2.1 diesel n it's great for up to 2 people
Looking for both driveshafts right now n a gearbox or engine and gearbox complete- at moment it's not moving but engines fine and when I put into gear I can move a tiny bit forward or back but if I left clutch to past th biting point it stalls - both front wheels are locked and will only move as described very little.
I broke down on m25 and had to b rescued on back of a wagon by arc but they weren't interested in telling me whether it was gearbox or driveshaft. - so I need to know and don't know anyone in Elstree where she's parked? Anyone got any thoughts or advice

I used to have a reno Traffic van (BReg) so guess it would be 1983-84 model.Engine blew up once around 30000miles.
Front drive shafts always a problem. One time the van came to a emergency stop all on its own (very scary at 30MPH)it turned out that the 5Th gear drive was seized, this is a separate bolt on addition to the gear box, this had no oil in and I had just had a service.

What a load of rubbish! YOURS might have blown up at 30,000 miles etc. but I suspect that was because of the way it was treated in the past.Your gearbox sounds different to everyone else's too!

I'm the mem sec of the RTMR and I can tell you that there are many 1980's Trafics still running just fine. The main issue with Trafics is rust, rather than mechanical problems.
They're not perfect, but they don't all have the issues that yours had.

hi i have the lesharo and love it its still work in progress repairing a leaky roof and ripping aircon unit out replacing with skylight, but it runs lovley chugging along motorways at 60mph no probs i suppose the main thing with people running them down is because there not properly maintained by the owners,it would be the same for any vheicle.... thats how i look at it anyway
