Having recently purchased a motorhome from Brownhills of Newark, I have had a number of issues with them. The vehicle is 12 months old and came with 8 problems that in my opinion should have been spotted when they did the PDI.
It has been back to them twice, once for a two week period, and still is waiting for the last item to be rectified.
The customer service level has been extremely poor and the Customer Service manager has admitted they have problems but refused me any form of compensation for the time and travel in getting the machine back to them.
Any suggestions on how to persuade them to compensate me would be welcome.
You have every right to compensation. Just google sale of goods. Act and having read that then quote it to them.
FIT for PURPOSE for a reasonable time still applies even though it is second hand, providing you did not sign a disclaimer saying sold as seen
Unfortunately Brownhills don't have a good reputation, you only have to look at some of the forums on the internet, specifically Motorhome Forums!
Doesn't help you now that you have bought from them, but I agree with the above post relating to the Sale of Goods Act. Good luck, and above all, I hope that all the problems will be put right to your satisfaction and you will be able to use the motorhome for what it is intended!
Many thanks Ina and Grahamandbrend. Will check it out. The bottom line is that I would not like anyone else to buy from them without knowing what they can be like.
I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE LIKE, ONCE BITTEN TWICE SHY, I WOULD NOT BUY FROM THEM IF YOU PAID ME!!!, I ALMOST LOST MY LIFE IN A RAPIDO ON MY WAY BACK TO CROWTHORNE BERK'S AFTER PICKING UP THE CAMPER, DUE TO FRONT BRAKE PADS DISINTEGRATING ON ME ON BOTH SIDES.
