I am inteerested in travelling to both Ireland and France but am concerned at the clearance when boarding the ferries. I have a Bessacarr E572 which has a significant rear overhang. I ahve read of other grounding the rear of their Motorhomes when boarding ferries and so wondered if anyone has any advice or have similar vehicles that have travelled on the ferries.
Thousands of motorhomes use the ferries each year and you may occasionally have a bit of steep ramp to negotiate but most of the time it's okay. As far as France is concerned you could use the Tunnel as I know that that is a shallow incline which would give you no problems.
Yes, for France use the tunnel! Apart from not having to worry about having a long overhang, it is very quick and easy to drive on and off. Much better than ferries IMHO!!
Now all you've got to do is wait until they dig a tunnel to Ireland and your problems are solved.
Hi
We have the same MH as you. We took the ferry to France and back last month with no grounding problems, and we have a towbar fitted which gives more of a overhang.
