There are two different sizes of awning bead, 4mm(I think) & 6mm, with 6mm being the norm, the 4mm being for the grooves in Fiamma wind-out canopies...
I would've thought that any awning rail fixed to a vehicle would be 6mm...
..having said that, the panel edge moulding the we had on our '07 Compass, although "awning rail like" in appearance, was only really a drip moulding(..it was to big and wouldn't hold a bead).
I just wonder if it is actually an awning rail?....
Chris
PS.: Just to add.If it is an awning rail but is just too tight ,I assume you've tried spreading the rail slightly(you can buy a little tool, which I assume wouldn't mark the rail) and spraying with a silicon based lubricant(some swear by furniture polish).
