No idea what unit/water system type you have but it's also worth checking the boiler drain valve....
Ours went through a spell where it'd "shunt" and "re-pressurize" itself every few minutes.. and opening and closing the drain valve umpteen times cured it(..I assume it just wasn't "seating" properly".).
If that doesn't do it,there must be a one way valve of some description..so it could also be draining back through that?...
Although, if yours is only "re-priming" once every "few hours",assuming that there are no leaks, then I'm not sure whether or not that would just be deemed an acceptable level of "seep back" anyway?
(..and if there were a leak, it'd have to be a very small one, for it to "re-prime" so infrequently).
Having said that, if the pump seems to be taking ages to build the pressure in the first place, it may well be a fault with the pump?..and it could be draining/seeping back through it?...it may be worth checking if there's a service kit is available for it?
We only turn our pump on during periods when we'll be using it(cooking/washing),so ours isn't just left on for hours at a time...
