My husband is considering buying one of those tiny micro motorhomes to spend the odd night in, but the question is which one? He doesn't want to buy a new one until he's tried the concept, so we're talking about a second-hand one of a reasonably-priced vintage, on reputable base vehicle and, since it would also be his everyday vehicle, able to fit into multi-storey car parks and be economical to drive. Any suggestions what he should be looking for?
We used to have a Romahome hi-top and really liked it, but this one is for my husband to use on his own and the Romahome is a bit bigger than what he'd be looking for. We've got a caravan for going away together, so he really only need a tiny van conversion.
If he wants a really small estate car based camper then Citroen Berlingo as base vehicle is ok. this sort of thing. There are other companies doing similar conversions. You can often find older Berlingo converted cars on ebay quite cheaply. 1.9 diesel is the one to go for if you want cheap. Bit slow but its old technology diesel so cheap to repair. Another one here
If you put 'Berlingo camper' into google image search you will see loads including home conversions & also removable conversions so it can be a proper car when not camping.
Drivelodge have a "Joey" based on a Berlingo. Worth a look ? you can spec it as you wish. raising roof. One berth. Hob ? etc etc you can keep the price low to suit your needs.
I collect my Nissan NV200 early this week but it will be bigger than you want ( never thought that I would say that ! as it is pretty compact but a 2 berth nonetheless)
Good luck and best wishes
