I lit my fire today no probs; but the van did not seem to warm up , or maybe a tiny bit; how warm do they get? when I turn my thermostat from say 2 to 10, it does not APPEAR to be any different; should I hear a louder roar/ gas pressure on 10; how do I know if it is working correctly, any test I can do by sound/listening or seeing a different flame? not a big vann/ highwayman/ but would need to wrap up if just sitting there, its almost as if just the pilot is lit ;the top half of the metal feels pretty warm to touch any advise/help? thanks

What do you mean by "fire" it it something which is like a gas fire at home?

The method to use with blown air heaters like the Propex is to turn the thermostat up to full when you light it. When the van is warm enough, turn it down till it just clicks off.

Does yours have a fan on it? it may be the fan not working. My highwayman had a min/max setting for the gas and 1-10 for the fan. it used to warm the van pretty quickly and I never need it on full.
