First time closing motorhome for winter...and we are very confused regarding the carver cascade water heater it states "to drain the water heater for frost prevention to make sure that the water heater is warm before opening taps to complete drain" but does the water tank need to be filled so the water heater can get warm?? so if we switch water heater on to heat water up would this effect the heater if no water in? as doesn't state in the manual wether it should be filled up or not..
And don't forget all the cupboard doors, also the loo door.
Leave everything open to let air circulate(NOT windows)

As we've been visited by the little So'n'Sos, could you explain what you mean please?(..as I've never heard of that tip before...)
Thanks
Edit: Forget that...I've just had a quick "Google"...
Further to the "Drain down", it may also be worth looking at "pressurizing /blowing through" the system...to help get rid of any last bits...?
Before using a product like this be sure that all your water connections are up to the job. Having worked in the trade I have seen quite a few vans plumbing that would not.
------------- Motorhomevalet, quality professional valeting for your motorhome or caravan, let me rejuvenate your van
I've just done mine for the first time! I got the husband to lay on the floor to turn the taps on the waste and the water tanks. I opened the sink taps and left them open.
I then opened the plug for the heating on the outside of the van. As it was taking its time on the level I drove the van onto the kerb to tip it. Seems to have worked a treat. Then I put some vaseline on the 'plug' before I screwed it back in. (as advised by a lorry driver friend)
I will fill her all up again if we go anywhere i'll need the heating on but otherwise I'll just take a gallon water container for water for drinks.
I plan to drive her all winter and have the red nose and antlers ready to fit for Christmas!
Symbol Life if you are using your van all winter there no need to drain down. Quote:

We live in a bit of a steep road that you can't climb if it snows. I worry we'll get trapped in and she'll freeze.
Do you think I'm overdoing the worry then?
A late response sorry but No, you're not ..it pays to be aware of the damage a sudden drop in temperature can do...
There's nothing to be gained by leaving water in the system all winter, just because you may or may not choose to use the van at the weekend..
It's a bit late when an overnight temperature drop ends up splitting your pipes/taps/pump...
We use our van all year through but at this time of year whilst it's sitting on the drive',it's drained down...and even when we do go away, if it's only for a day or two and on a site with facilities(showers etc),we usually just take containers of water anyway..
