If you are going to switch on the water heater, make sure it is filled with water!!!!

However, I am thinking that what the manual is suggesting is that the water in the system is not so cold that it is close to freezing.

In which case just do a normal drain down. Do not put on the water heater.

Edit: Forget that...I've just had a quick "Google"...

Further to the "Drain down", it may also be worth looking at "pressurizing /blowing through" the system...to help get rid of any last bits...?

A late response sorry but No, you're not ..it pays to be aware of the damage a sudden drop in temperature can do...

There's nothing to be gained by leaving water in the system all winter, just because you may or may not choose to use the van at the weekend..

It's a bit late when an overnight temperature drop ends up splitting your pipes/taps/pump...

We use our van all year through but at this time of year whilst it's sitting on the drive',it's drained down...and even when we do go away, if it's only for a day or two and on a site with facilities(showers etc),we usually just take containers of water anyway..
