Year Jan 2000 Petrol......My battery charger has been checked (and OKd) and registers 13.8 amps out but the battery (OKd) only measures 12.12 in. The electrician and I cannot find where the switch charge relay is but I do wonder whether it is behind the panel at the back of the little cupboard under the sink which is secured with 4 round head screws. (He didn't look in there). Also he has asked if I have a wiring diagram which I do not have.
Any help much appreciated. I have a portable battery charger with me but it needs sorting even for the minor inconvenience when the lights go out.

Do you mean 13.8 and 12.12 volts?

What do you mean by "switch charge relay"? do you mean the battery charger, which on the Symbol is often under the floor of the cupboard under the cooker.Or do you mean the split charge relay which on my Symphony is under the bonnet.

I have the wiring diagrams for my '95 Symphony but they could be different, The position of the charger is different for one thing. If the charger is of the same type (Zig X7 I think) then the wiring could be the same even though the components are in physically different places.

Sorry folks... Volts....The charger is OK and the battery. The problem is finding the link (shall we say) between the two to find out why the charge is not fully getting through and the lights, from the leisure battery, go out after a few winter days of using them. The electrician (qualified) has left me (unqualified) to find what lies between the two.
Hope someone can now help but thanks so far.

I am not an expert by any means, but reading the report above I would be suspecting the battery is beyond its sell buy date.
The charger is putting out the voltage but the battery is not accepting or holding it. This would explain why your lights go out.
Remove the battery and get it checked at a battery centre, I think you will find it is duff.....

I have the exact same van but unfortunately its being mended at the garage and my books are there. If you're still having trouble later on in the week I may be able to photocopy and send you diagrams.
