hi all i recently purchased a motor home from webbs very nice renault trafic eldiss eclips 36000miles.i am going to france to portugal in feb,as they mention all checks done before hand over,i made sure to do the cambelt and they did thought they were very good.now getting ready for the trip in feb thought i would have a look around the engine like you do just as well i notice this, they said it had plenty of life left in it so it wasnt covered with the guarentee.they did change it but had a bill to go with it
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j234/bluepaulsky/roughdrivebelt005.jpg just goes to show how can you trust
I'm not really sure what you are trying to say(..as some of your post appears to be written in Apache!? ).
So..?..They said it didn't need changing..but it does...?...or they changed it when it didn't need it...?....or they charged you for changing it and haven't....?
hope this link does lol i mean i said to them that the belt needs changing.they thought it didnt need changing as there were plenty of life left on it.so they didnt do it under guarentee.
That looks more like an auxilliary belt than a cam belt. The only question that matters is did they change the cam belt, if you have any doubts it needs doing no matter what. There is a difference between the £2k+ to sort out the engine after it has gone and the 200 to 300 it costs to replace the belt.
------------- Bill
For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
sorry it was the auxiliary belt, this is the 1 that they wouldn't change under guarantee,i made them change the cam belt before i bought it,they meant to of done this with the service before change over
The norm is auxiliary belts every 10 thousand miles cam belt/s every 50 to 65 thousand miles depending on vehicle and usage of course . Or up to individuals?

But we mustn't forget, that as far as MHs are concerned, more often that not it'll be the "age" recommendation that'd prompts a change, rather than the mileage..
(..I think ours was something like 70,000miles or 5 years..and it's not hard to guess which one it reached first...)
