Glad you are enjoying your Bongo. I often miss ours, even though it was not converted to a camper. Did you join the Owners club, Bongo Fury?

Best Regards,
Colin

Glad you are enjoying your Bongo.
I miss mine but the running costs got too much for me as I do a lot of miles each year.
Can recommend Bongo Fury ..... Very Helpful site.

Isn't that a Ford Freda? Ford's badge-engineered version. Nice motors, even if they are a bit thirsty. Then again, they are as streamlined as a brick, and weigh around 2 tons, so what should we expect.

Great driving position, very comfortable, and a very roomy 8 seater when not converted.

Colin

Yep it was a Freda but I always refered to it as a bongo!
As you say a 2 ton box is never going to be economical and I really miss the driving position and the auto box but I was getting 20 mpg and maybe 25 on a run!!
My skoda never drops below 50 mpg so will have to stick with that for now ....... Although ive just been looking at bongos on autotrader and fleabay

It is a Bongo in all but name. If I had a Freda, I would have called it a Bongo too. That's what people know them as.

I got around 25mpg on average, which was a great improvement on my previous vehicle, a Toyota SpaceCruiser, which only did about 18mpg on a good day. I suppose it's an unfair comparison though, as the Toyota was petrol and the Bongo diesel. However, The Bongo had much better performance too, and it was bigger.

Best Regards,
Colin

Great cars, if a little small inside. I've got a Thule 900 box on the back for my camping stuff.

I use a 50/50 Rapeseed oil/diesel mixture so the MPG is slightly higher and it works out cheaper to run.
