Just about to get first campervan, VW T4. (ex. caravanner). Appreciate any advice, pointers from anyone with same. What do I need to look out for, what little or big things can go wrong? Thanks

try and get the 2.5tdi. unless its got a blue i on the grill then it will be the 80bhp so would struggle loaded up. i have had the 2.4d non turbo and the 2.5tdi and there was a big difference, had both serviced on time and no probs, just tyres etc. make sure the cambelts have been replaced as with campers it will be age not mileage.

If u can get a lwb ...you'll be amazed the difference a foot and a half can make when camped up....

Decide if you want a high top or a pop top before you buy.

Pros and cons-

High Top - Ups: can stand up in it, extra storage, usually well insulated so can be used year round. Downs: Hard, if not impossible, to park in multi stories, P&Rs, car parks with barriers.

Pop Top - Ups - easier to parks as they are usually under 2.0m. Downs: less room inside even when pop top is up due to slope, reduced storage, can be cold due to the pop up being made from plastic/canvas (though you can get wrap round insulating screens).

Im on my third T4 High Top LWB
One BIG tip. Dont get a Rock N Roll Bed. they are uncomfortable to sleep on, uncomfortable to sit on and waste a HUGE amount of space.
Contrary to what others say, go for the 2.4. Its a bog standard Diesel with no bells and whistles and also no Turbo or electronic problems
Just bung Veg oil in and drive.
