Greetings,

We are the 'new' owners of a Hobby 650. We are very happy with everything but we have discovered that the eye line when sitting in the seats at the front is right at the top end of acceptable.
I'm no giant at about 5'9" but without slouching I'm looking out of the top 2-3" of the windscreen. The views up there are marvelous after towing for ten yearsbut when going downhill I've become aware of the shortness in distance my view is.
Our seats are on what I could only describe as upturned boxes. I am aware that in some motorhomes, this is where the battery sometimes is but not in our case.
My question. Are there alternatives available for the height of these seat boxes. I am envisioning a seat fixture that is, lets say 3" lower than the one fitted to ours. Our seat is so high that the handbrake has an extension fitted to it to stop the driver folding himself in half to get to the lever.
Any suggestions gratefully received.

You mentioned elsewhere that it was in a Fiat chassis so don't know if its the same as my Peugeot, apparently made in the same factory? My seat has two settings normal and high. When I tried it on high I had exactly the same, my eye line was directly with the top of the windscreen. Are there any levers on the side of the box you mention?

David

Also consider, that if you lower the seat height, the seat belt position ( coming across the chest/shoulder area ) may then be to high for safety.  Of course the seat belt may have a sliding height mechanism as many cars do.

Presumably the seat is too high because the converter has fitted a swivel seat base?..but used the original(or unsuitable?) plinth?...

Have "a google" for seat bases..

e.g   http://www.marcleleisure.co.uk/store/-c-338_368.html

As has been said, just make sure you've tried pulling all of the levers before you start spending money!

(..with our first van the OH dangled her legs for the first few outings and pestered me to make a box...until I had a look, and just adjusted the bl**dy seat! )

Hi Again,

Thanks to all those who have contributed to this thread.
The price for the lowered seat base is enough to make my eyes water. However.......I will keep my powder dry and make some inquiries.
