Many thanks! Couple of questions: Did you film with a 'dash-cam'? How wide is your Motorhome - is it necessary to keep mirrors retracted on train - it did look fairly narrow!
(Am thinking of getting a dashcam - both to have evidence of even worse drivers than me (!) and to record scenic journeys etc)
My navigator gone to bed now but will show your vid to her later. Thanks again Keith!

No - we never do, there's plenty of room

I use a DR 32 Driving Recorder which was reviewed by Techmoan - http://youtu.be/P-dfvPX0dOs
There are so many good dash cameras from very cheap to very expensive on the market that it can be a bit of a nightmare deciding which one to get.
Mine is extremely easy to set up and operate and gives a far superior picture quality when played full screen on my PC compared to the picture quality you see on Youtube.
The MH is 2.3 metres wide but the mirrors add extra width.
We retract them both when parked on the train as they are a hazard to people on the walkways either side as they walk on their way to the on-board train toilets.
We also pull in one of the mirrors when approaching the Ticket and Toll booths at Eurotunnel and Toll motorways in France.

Although I did all the travelling abroad that I want to do in my late teens and early twenties I found the video very interesting indeed. I have never driven abroad so the sweaty palms would have lasted me the entire holiday but a brilliant and informative video which I am sure will help many people.

Loved this informative video. Gives me more confidence to have a go and negates my thinking that you had to manoeuvre sideways into each carriage,

Thanks again Keith - most helpful! My van also 2.3 wide plus the seemingly overlarge Fiat mirrors - often retracted (- see my post about 'Mirrorguards' in the Lake district!) Have seen another very small dashcam recommended by the Techmoan man - good site btw (imho)
Gone slightly off-topic but your video could have started something! Btw we normally cross the water by ferry but if current weather patterns continue the Chunnel option sounds increasingly attractive!

That's really good, making me want to go on holidays. I have to say i've never seen Eurotunnel that quiet, even on our crossings first thing in the morning.

I've been that person getting lost at the front of the high vehicle queue, panicking not knowing which lane to go down.

And here's a speeded up version of a journey through the Eurotunnel Terminal in late December 2013 - http://youtu.be/vF2pkeUhDB8

I thought that was going to be a bit boring but decided to give it a try. Found I actually I really enjoyed it. I don't even have a motor home either.

I don't have a Motorhome and no plans to go through the EuroTunnel but this video is excellent!

My partner, five year old son and I sat huddled around the laptop watching!

Brilliant. You should do more video reviews Keith

I'm glad you've enjoyed my amateur efforts.
I'm sure others could put together useful videos, a journey from start to finish of a Ferry crossing perhaps, that might help other Members decide which route to take.
Videos of Campsites and Aires to be put in a data base for everyone to see would be a decent addition to these forums and I'm sure some of you could make the effort to produce videos and enlighten the rest of us.
If you really, really have a lot of spare time and a comfy chair then you'll find more of my videos at –www.youtube.com/user/keithchesterfield
