We need some help or any advice.

We have bought an old campervan and we have a leak coming in from the windscreen seal and the water is lodging in the footwell on the passenger side. My husband has tried drainpipe sealant but it's not worked. Any advice on what we can use or where we can go to buy whatever we need.

Thanks

Hello,

Not sure if this helps, but we are in the process of converting a panel van into a camper.   As part of the transition we fitted side windows using an adhesive used in commercial car factories.   6 months later they haven't fallen out and there are no leaks.   Sorry, it was a while ago now and we don't have the tubes of adhesive anymore and having done a quick search am only coming up with 'packages' including the windows, but it might be any idea to post the question on forums related to van conversions such as the T5 one rather than motorhomes etc.

I would imagine that you're windscreen is leaking along the top and is going to be quite difficult to pinpoint where without removing the screen..
Can you source a replacement seal?
If so it may be worth getting the screen out repearing the bodywork and then putting the screen back... Not cheap but at least you would know it was done right

If you have windscreen cover it might be worth going down the route of "cracking your own screen" then making a claim from your insurance? will only cost you £50 or so

Try "Captain Tolly's creeping crack cure" Very effective stuff! I've used it in the past and would never be without it now.
Most boat chandlers sell it as do a lot of camping shops, give it a try just follow the instructions and unless you have a gap big enough to drive a bus through it should stop the leak. Just remember that water very rarely is coming in where you think it is so just trickle it round the whole screen rubber both sides.

Its possible it has rusted out under the rubber, in which case new metal will need to be welded in, although if hole is not to bad it might be possible to repair with IsoponP40. It does sound as if you need to remove screen & this is not difficult in an old vehicle as they are not glued in & refitting is easy as well.

To remove screen pull out exterior beading if there is any & then start at corners inside van & push rubber under the metal & work towards centre. Then push out screen from inside by lying on seat & pushing with both feet with assistant catching screen from outside as it comes out.

Agree with above - a likely cause is rust. Windscreen probably needs to be removed to assess damage anyway.
