I do drive the van but OH does more so and never has a problem in the UK with it being LHD. We go vanning every year abroad and the LHD makes the driving so much easier, particularly as we do a lot of km's.
LHD German import T25 Westfalias hold their money which was one reason we went for one rather than a UK conversion.
The Van is a sort of blank canvas from what i can see from some pics it does have Mains hook up as i can see a LARGE switching panel which says 220v, it then has desks around the sides and back of the van with lots of plugs , one swivel seat not sutable for travel.
Its strange though as im still being told its a 2ltr manual (with no engine change), but on the forums im reading they are only 1.6 td or 1.7 d .. Im confused.
Just trying to tot up how much it will be for the interia fit out and if this is worthwhile to do.

Unless the van is '79-'83 in which case it could be 2litre aircooled petrol? Good engine but very poor fuel consumption , low 20s mpg. Is to coloured orange? It could well be an ex German government 'Katastrophenschutzwagen', vehicles kept in reserve for national disasters & hardly driven but because they had to be ready at all times they were regularly serviced, tyres changed & kept undercover. Probably the T3s were all sold off a few yrs ago but they can be truly 'timewarp', almost as new.
Can you post up pics of it including front view? If it is aircooled it will have no lower grille just above front bumper.
I haven't managed to post pics to the WWW.. No face book etc etc etc..I really should get my 5 year old to show me how...
That's interesting ref the grills
This has the single round headlamps with black grill.
Then as your description " it has another grill " just above the black bumper, thank you for that.
Just noticed that it also has the radio aerial in the front part of the front 1/4 panel on top near (bonnet) all the other VWs I've seen are the aerial mounted on the front a pillar.
The van is blue, I'm told original ..
Guess who is trying to go to Germany next weekend?

The early vans '79-'83 were aircooled using the old 1.6 & 2litre engines. Easily recognisable by single grille with headlights. '83 onwards vans petrol & diesel were watercooled & below top grille is smaller plastic grille above bumper so easy to spot the difference. Possibly a Technisches Hilfswerk van? German civil defence. The 1.9 petrol is sometimes described as '2litre' & most of these government vans were 1.9petrol. The orange local council wagons were usually 1.7diesel.
Not the correct colour blue , inc the lights on the top and the stickers.
But that does look the same .. Lights , indicators , mirrors , bumper + ends,
So if it is a diesel and it has not been changed it's going to be 1.7 and not 2ltr ..

If its diesel theres always a chance it will be 1.6turbo. This does have adequate open road performance as do 1.9 & 2.1petrol. The 1.7 & earlier 1.6 non turbo diesels can only really be regarded as local delivery vans, they are really slow & struggle to reach 70mph. This why the German local council T3 vans & trucks usually in a distinctive bright orange were 1.7diesel. The fire busses & green/white Police busses were often 2.1petrol for the extra performance as were ambulances.
Is your van direct ex German government? I would be suprised because most of their T3s were outed probably by '05 but there could still be some about.
Not quite sure of the situation, I should have direct contact info soon.
