Please buy your 'van' first. You may find that the people selling it will have an awning. If through a dealer, they may also include the awning that was traded in, as part of the sale to you. Lets face it, it will fit the van you are buying, and will be just the job. Coach built motorhomes often have a roll out awning ( I prefer to call them sunshades myself) to which you may add sides/front etc. There are plenty about, it is just a mater of choice...your own choice. However you would be advised to not go for the cheapest on the market, as some can be a little flimsy. Just google Motorhome awnings...loads will be available. Try the free adds on here, UK campsite, that does not mean the item is free , it is just you do not pay to advertise it. Most awnings will state a height of the envelope that fixes to the van. Buy the height that suits your vehicle when you have it. All state the working height, and also remember to check the weight of the item. You dont want to be selling it straight away as it is either to small/big/heavy for your pay load. Take your time to look around at all vans that you think will suit your needs. Dont be afraid to ask lots of questions, anyone who cannot answer them for you is to my mind not worthy of your custom. Also, please think about the number of people who will be travelling in it. YOU NEED that many seat belts. Something that has not many miles on the clock, may be in good condition....but check those tyres all 5 of them. They are an expensive item, and it isnt all about the tread look them over very carefully. They may not have touched a road in a year. You will need tosee the service records for the van...the part you live in, and the engine etc.
Welcom to the forum, enjoy the search for your van, use it for a month or so, and see if you need to spend on an awning if you need the extra space it offers.Just keep looking on here and reading every ones questions, and advice given. We are mostly a friendly lot, and all happy to help. Good Luck.

Hi again, Do not show your excitement at the dealers. Have a real good look, and with a toddler you realy do need a bed that is as 'seperate' from the lounge area as possible. All dealers will try to sell to you....choose a couple that you like the look of and get him to compare them. Glad I mentioned the seat belt thing...it is essential, try your childs seat as well. ( No, Not you......in the seat belts! LOL) Check for a roll out awning/SUN SHADE!...and also the height of the vehicle. We have 2 awnings, both termed 'drive away'. Neither is a faph to hook up or take down. We leave the ramps on the ground where they will not be stolen, and yes some sites are truely that honest. It is then just simple to return to the same place. If you are unsure about leaving the tempting ramps....use a peg to mark the front of each one.Make sure you are offered a good warranty, check those tyres, and be sure to get gas bottles etc. Ask how old the vehicle and leisure batteries are. Be a bit daring/cheeky, and ask for a discount as you do not have a trade in. Is the dealer close by?...you dont want to be travelling 100 miles everytime something crops up, or its services are required.Don't be too hurried, take a test drive, and enjoy the experience of finding what you are after.
