Hello,

We are planning on taking our who will then nearly be 15 months old son away in our campervan in 2 weeks' time. He is very small for his age - more like a 7/8 month old however is very strong! He also moves around in his cotbed loads at night! It's almost as though he does laps - hehe!

We ideally want to be able to use the rest of the van after he has gone to sleep. But I am wondering the best way to do this.

We have a Samsonite bubblecot, I am thinking of putting him up in the overhead bed in this (it does fit just about) and then putting a bed guard in front of it. But my husband is thinking it is going to be difficult in middle of night if he was to wake up to see to him.

It's a SWB so a travelcot wouldnt fit at end of rock and roll bed anyway.

My other alternatives are to put the bubblecot on rock and roll bed and we just have to cope with not using stuff 'downstairs' once he is in bed!! Or try and see if travelcot would fit in space between front seats and r'n'r bed. Meaning we would sleep upstairs with both of these options.

What have other people done?!! Thanks in advance.

Our van is pop-top, converted Renault trafic.

Do your front seats swivel? If so you could do as friends of ours did with their young son. They swiveled the seats to face each other and put a board, which travelled behind the r&r bed whilst on the move, across them to provide a flat surface then put the travel cot on that. They then put restraining bars, made from extendable washing line poles, across the van to stop the cot moving. This worked fine until their son learnt to switch on the radio when he woke up!

There are cheaper versions but think he would just roll out or climb out of it at the moment - he is bad enough in his cotbed!!
