Does anyone know the legal position for the fitting of light bars on the front of a MH.

I would like to make and fit stainless steel rounded bars and fit 2 lights on them but I have heard that this is dubious due to increased risk of injury to pedestrians in an accident.

I can see the sense in this (although they would be smooth and well rounded) but I would hate to fit them only to be told to remove them.

Anyone had past experience of this?

I would ask an mot mechanic, but I still see motorhomes/campervans with bull bars fitted and fitted with lights on them so it can't be illegal.

I believe metal bull bars are banned but there are EU approved front protection bars that can be fitted. You need to look up the law online. I would imagine it comes under the Construction and Use Regulations. I would also look up the fitting and use of extra lights on the front of a vehicle as well.

Not much help I know but it might be better to research the law yourself. Replies on forums regarding legal issues can often be conflicting and misleading

They are also not pedestrian friendly .
Perfect height for kids bodies .
They are not constructed to throw a pedestrian away from the vehicle, but rather mow them down.
I have seen the damage they cause, you would not wish that on your worst emery

We had an EU approved A bar and side steps on our last Sorento. Our insurer charged us extra when we told them. At renewal some companies we tried would not cover as vehicle was "modified!"

Current Sorento is standard.
