Hi we are off to France for the first time on Thursday! We contacted the AA with regards to breakdown service in a France they want crazy money! We do intend to do 10 days now and another 14 days in August

Any advise on who to use please?

We have AA cover so I don't know about anyone else. I can't remember what it cost but I know it was a lot less than a single call out charge of the French motorways.

If you have UK breakdown cover with AA already then cheapest option way well be just upgrading cover to European. If your UK breakdown is with another company then upgrade that to European. When your vehicle insurance comes up for renewal & you want to go to Europe in future you will probably find its cheapest to take out UK/Europe breakdown cover with your vehicle insurance.

Aria break down insurance with the C&CC

or Red Pennant break down cover with the Caravan Club

Brittania Rescue is the one we are with for both our car and camper van. We have used them twice while in France and they are excellent.

We got breakdown cover through our ferry in a package with the health cover. It is run by Alliance. Two weeks health and breakdown was 65 EUR.

AA wanted £89 for 2 weeks cover in France.
We dumped them and went for ADAC, whole of EU cover for around £98 for the wife and me and any car.

All sorted we went with the AA though euro star which was cheaper than the aa direct work that one out got a years cover
