Hiya folks

We're back (sadly) from a fantastic 9 days away in Wales.  Opted for mid Wales this time and the Elan Valley, somewhere we'd only skirted around in the past.  WOW WOW WOW, what can we say, what an absolutely stunning area (especially in the sunshine!).  From Day 1 at Tewkesbury when it was very warm to Day 9 in Abergavenny in torrential rain it was BRILLIANT!!

It has taken me quite a while to update our blog, especially with the Elan Valley section, because I took so many photos (for which I won't apologise for!!).

www.kernowcamper2.blogspot.com

I don't think we'll ever feel the need to head abroad while we have places like that in the UK to explore!!

Enjoy, I'm off to look at it again and re-live it!!

Nice pictures. When you go out for the day, when not riding your bikes, do you take the motorhome or do you use public transport? Its been a while since we have been to Pandy.

Hi David

Thank you!

When we're not out on our bikes we either walk (book our sites carefully) or uses buses (Pandy to Abergavenny £5.10 return each so not a fortune!). We never move the motorhome once on site.  Only stay on sites 2 - 3 max too.

Pandy is a lovely little site.  Useful for our stop-over on the way home to Cornwall as it takes us 3 - 3.5 hours to get home from there!

Thanks for that. I was worried I was the only one who didn't leave a site during our stay!!! We have made a lot of use of our bus passes since being motorhome owners, just a shame they are not accepted in Wales or Scotland.

Hi David

I think in 8 years of motorhoming we've left site once, and that was to take our old dog to the vets in Snowdonia when he fell ill. For us, that's the beauty of having a motorhome, you HAVE to get out and about under your own steam (makes us less lazy!).  Looking forward to getting our bus passes. LOL  Sadly, by the time we get there I doubt they'll even exist!!

Enjoy.

Sharon

I am not sure its up to individual Councils as it was Central Government legislation. It is correct that they are moving the qualification date to that of the standard state retirement age. Has that really got to 65 already?

Hi David

The site really is lovely isn't.  Perfect for motorhomes.  Large hardstanding pitches and you get to choose your own.  Nice people.  Not overpriced.  Lots of walking and biking directly from the site on the Elan Valley Trail.  Hotel 5 minutues walk from the site, with good food/service. I'd be VERY happy to have another 5 days there, in fact I could stay forever!

So glad you enjoyed it as much as we did........but let's keep it our secret from now on!!!!!

Sharon

I'll get round to reading your update soon - eventually! I'm so busy updating my own blog with my recent Anglesey trip that I haven't had time to read anyone else's, but as soon as I've finished I'll catch up on yours.

Just got back from a fantastic 3 nights in south Devon.  Weather was stunning too and we crammed loads in.  Will try and update blog within the next few days.

Will look forward to yours, as always!

Well I've just said 'sod it!' made a brew and scoffed a couple of donuts while reading your blog. Greats pics as usual - where are those fancy gates on the second photo down on the Chirk Castle post?

I went to Chirk marina at Easter with the intention of walking the dogs along the towpath but I was on the car park side and couldn't find a way to get across to the other side. Shame you didn't go across Pontcysyllte aquaduct, you get some great views from there.

I put a comment on your last post too, I didn't understand the previous comment

LOL!  Good on you I say, donuts and all!  The gates are next to the nearest entrance to Chirk Castle as you drive to the CC site (Lady Margarets Park)....and they are stunning.

I was certainly NOT brave enough to walk across the Pontcysyllte.  Not sure I ever will be.  I enjoyed the views looking up at it from the River Dee!!!

I didn't understand it either Eunice???  My review was honest and fair.  Each to their own.

Sharon xx

I'll have to have a look for those gates next time I'm down that way. They remind me very much of the Golden Gates at Elvaston Castle.
