Hello folks. My rear parking sensors in my T5 have decided to not work. They were fitted by the guy who did my conversion - so they're not strictly VW parking sensors. I couldn't even tell you what make they are, because it doesn't even say on the badly translated installation guide.

Basically, it looks like a wee half circle that sits on my dashboard - the digital display comes on when I turn on the engine with a long "beep!". However, yesterday, it just didn't switch on at all. OH had a look at all the fuses - none blown. The only thing it says on the installation guide that is remotely helpful, is that the heat can affect it - it was really warm here yesterday. But it's still not working today!

Any suggestions? OH is phoning the guy who installed them and I'm sure he'll fix it under warranty - I just can't be without a vehicle for the next 10 days or so. Wondered if there was anything we could do ourselves?

Amused by this, Weegmack. I am my OH's reversing sensors. Sounds very posh having such things on a MH... I'm just getting used to having them on a car for the first time - the dog's growling usually told us when we were too close to the vehicle behind.

I'm sure you probably have if OH has checked fuses, but have you checked the actual parking sensor?   Aftermarket sensors are quite often only mounted in the bumper hole with heavy duty double sided sticky tape.   Over time it will lose its 'sticky' and be can affected by the heat.   The sensor will slip in the hole slightly, meaning that it constantly senses the bumper and gives you the continuous tone.

We have checked the fuses - but not the actual sensor on the bumper! And it's actually been warm up here lol. So will check that thanks.

Ah you made me laugh there! I'm actually managing fine without them (it's a short bast T5, so no longer than a big saloon car!). I feel very smug - though I'd better be careful not to get too smug or I might reverse into something !!
