SymbolLife makes a good point.

We recently met a couple on a site who had had awful service from a big company (It begins with 'M' ...)

It was only when they started telling the world via social networking sites, Twitter etc that they got any proper action. E.g. One evening they got a phone call from the MD and things began to happen after months of frustration!
( ... they eventually replaced their new van with another one with many free extras!)
So being polite is not always the best action - guess so long as you avoid personal abuse/slander etc!

An update. Lowdhams agree fridge faulty and needs replacing. However they want us to collect tomo and take it back in a few weeks when new fridge there. In meantime manage without !!!!!! Totally unacceptable. It's been back twice with faulty bed which caused problems. Fridge awning other buts. Don't buy from lowdhams or chausson. Complete and utter rubbish. As for after sales service. It does not exist

Can you get a fridge delivered quickly? If not why should Lowdhams be able to do any better? What they are suggesting seems reasonable to me, the alternative is to leave it there till one arrives and be completely unable to use it.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

I think Lowdhams should give a few extras after this palava. Being able to get a fridge quickly or not!

If my home fridge was broken I could get a replacement the same day. If I've bought a brand new motorhome from a dealer who has many of the same fridges sat in his premises I would take one from there to keep my current customer happy and stand the other motorhome which is for sale aside whilst a new fridge was delivered. I am sure chausson who wish to maximise sales through lowdhams would have a replacement delivered very quickly.
Surely it's not just about new sales but the inevitable customer services that follows. Reputation key to every business

We recently ordered a new door for a Dometic fridge and debated whether or not to replace the whole thing. Both items surprisingly pricey! BUT they were available for 48hour delivery, so why does it take Lowdhams so long?

Perhaps because they tell porky's! Just spoken to the assistant manager as general on his hols! He's agreed with me they should take a fridge from another van. In fairness he's been the best person I've spoken to yet. Let's see what he comes back with. Any which way I am not picking it up until it's fixed.

Well, having previously owned a Chausson( a 2008,Allegro 83), for 4 1/2 years, during which time *nothing failed,nor fell off, I would disagree with your latter comment...

(*other than an initially "sporadic" waste tank gauge/sender).

Any detectable faults should be picked up by the dealer during a thorough PDI...unfortunately, as seems all too common with MHs, that we, the buyers. appear to be used to "detect" these faults.

(.."..they'll bring it back, if there's sometime wrong.."..)

If so look and join motorhomes and camper vans and put your grievance on there. There's loads of advise but also being on face book it goes viral. Hope this helps and good luck.👍🚍

If you are getting a 'loan' veh from lowdhams there will be nothing in it. We had one for 4 days and assumed there would gear in it - NO CHANCE !! We had to turn back and get our mains cable, gas bottle etc, also the waste water tank hadn't been emptied and was overflowing over the road leaving a trail behind us. I agree their Customer Service is non existent, I dealt with Huddersfield and got no where, was only when I wrote direct to the MD/CEO that we got action. I also claimed my expenses back from them - diesel used getting there & back, the night fees for the campsite etc, which they reluctantly paid after many weeks .

We have had the fridge removed and a cool box put in place to enable us to go to france. They left the van dirty and with marks on the flooring. I have taken pictures and will this week be emailing lowdhams. The sales assistant manager has been excellent however the service department ... Words fail me.
