hi guys new to this. bought a fiat ducato m home few weeks ago first run great second run speedometer and mileometer stopped working red light came on showing engine sign any tips please

Hi,
do you mean the engine warning light (shaped like an engine which is orange?)
The red light usually means that the alternator is not charging the battery

hi basa yes it is the light shaped like an engine but it is red and it cant be thealt cos i stayed a few nights using head lights all fine but no speedo or milometer

I assume you have checked all the fuses?
Normally if the engine light comes on it can be fault detected using a code reader.
I purchased one from Amazon for £13 and it found the engine light fault on my wife's car as a sensor on the engine. I used the reader to reset it and the light went out. Saved me a lot of money
Not sure how it is related to the speedo though.
Have you tried the Fiat Forum- its free and very helpful

all speedo's are now electronic & run through the ecu, so check the speedo wire is connected to the gearbox transponder

Fiat 2006 on have had some problems with corroded earth strap from gear box, cleaning it doesn't improve things and so need new earth strap.

Fiat garage prob best place to diagnose - but if you in RAC or similar they will look at vehicle (call out as a breakdown - as it can be dangerous to continue to drive with some faults that cause the ecu warning.)
They at least will be able to connect their test PC etc to your ECU to give some idea of 'fault' as well being able to reset it in some cases.(Note their software, as well as ones bought for DIY tend be generic and won't always decode some specific FIAT ecu messages.)
Slightly worrying if you have only just bought the van... any warranty?

hi have you look at fuse in engine compartment

no 17 i think if blown unconnect heater pipe that runs to heater box at front of engine

its a black box replace fuse

if engine light is still on start engine leave for say ab 5mins turn off then start again

thats what happen to mine 20/5reg
