hi all,
ive got a smev sink and hob combi, in my van, it came with a comet london tap , the problem is after a few weeks it wont stop dripping, I know there only cheap ( £26) but ive gone through 4 taps in as many months,
ive fitted a filter from the main water out of tank, one on each water pipe just before the taps, I know I can buy better taps, ( don't mind spending money) but don't want to blow £100 to find same problems, checked and theres no water leak anywhere, any suggestions
cheers paul

Have you thought of inserting a 'normal' switch in the power supply to the microswitch so you can isolate it and see whether that is actually the problem?

switched the power supply, already,
release the pressure in the pipes , still drips,
that's when I fitted new filter on each pipe as I last fitted a new tap, in case it was dirt in the tank tearing the seals in the tap, but works ok for about 2 days then drips, must just be cheap taps, but will the £100 taps do the same ?

A proper puzzle!!

So I presume you got on to tech support at the people who sold you the 'cheap' taps without satisp
factory response...

My next suggested workaround would be putting an isolating tap from your nearest miscellaneous plumber in the water supply pipe as near the actual tap as possible and open when going to use the tap a lot but close at other times. Obviously wouldn't solve the problem but could minimise it.
You probably thought of and dismissed that already but it would certainly be cheaper than £100

Crazy. Shouldn't happen at any price of tap but especially not one that came with a good name sink.

Another alternative of course would be to replace with an even cheaper tap or one from somwhere like this:
http://www.riverswayleisure.co.uk/acatalog/caravan-taps.html

Or if there's a dealer like Brownhills not too far away why not go to them with your problem and see what they offer. At least if you buy in person from a good retailer of a product they recommend you should be able to get a refund if it doesn't work.

just a hunch, is the pump switched on at all times, it could be there is a fault somewhere in the pump electrics that leaves the pump on, hence the build up of pressure and the drip from the taps, also riversway went out of business some time last year.

I wonder whether it could be a syphoning effect you're getting and if so whether a different arrangement of the water pipe between pump and tap or maybe between tank and pump could stop it. e.g. having the pipe go in a loop so there is an air lock, like the opposite of the water trap in the drain...
