We are thinking of going away for either twixtmas or new year with the motorhome aire at Brugge a likely candidate. Water and hook up on site and plenty to do in Brugge.
------------- It's only an expensive hobby when it's parked on your Drive....use it, love it , live it.
We are sailing to Spain, mid December with the motorhome, to Santander, then straight across Spain to the med coast, then going to amble about the south for a few weeks, no plans other than to have an English Christmas dinner on Christmas day, so we have booked a table at a cabaret bar in Benidorm for 1pm on the 25th!
We have been away for Christmas and New Year for the last 5 years now.
Always go to Ayr Holiday Park, St Ives (Cornwall) for Christmas sat on the headland overlooking the bay. No entertainment on site but that's how we like it. 15 minute wander into St Ives and there's all the entertainment you could possible want!!
Last year we spent NY at Padstow Touring Park. Again no entertainment on site but it was great in Padstow on NYE. This year we have booked Exmoor House CC site in Dulverton, Somerset for NY.
Not long now!!!

2024:
Feb Baltic Wharf, Bristol
Mar/April (Easter) - Somerset
May - Wales & Dulverton
June - Lake District
July - Dorset
August - Glastonbury
September - Snowdonia
October - Carnon Downs and ?? (for hab check)
November - Baltic Wharf, Bristol
Christmas - Cotswolds
We have never "done" Christmas Day away in the van but we have spent the few days after and over New year away( Bath, Bristol etc..)
Unless you stay on a site with a "clubhouse" etc (not our "thing"), it would be worth researching just what is still open in the area you're staying...
(..and maybe book up a nice Christmas lunch somewhere, if you don't want it in the van..?)
The one year we just "winged it", fully expecting the place(possibly Bath?) to be awash with festivities...but of cause most stuff was either ticket only/Private parties or plain shut!...
But it was still nice to just get away in the van though...
You wanna try St Ives then pepe63. Everything is open and some of the pubs do standard bar/restaurant menus even on Xmas Day so no overpriced roasts!!

St Ives close the towns roads on New Years Eve late afternoon. The streets fill up with families in fancy dress and then fireworks on the beach (tide permitting).
