We have just bought an Elddis motorhome with an unadapted chassis. The Al-Ko ones seem to be liked, but look too close to the ground. Do people find problems with getting on ferries and the dreaded traffic calmers? Our previous much loved Nu-Venture junior was murder on the ferries etc and we had to crawl and still scraped our bum. Hence our purchase. But would like other peoples views.
We have an Autocruise Stardream on the low alko chassis and have had no problems at all, mind we're only 6.8m long with a short overhang beyond the rear axle, I could invisage a problem on ramps if you had a long overhang.
Motorhomes on the alko chassis ride lower and handle better too (shock absorbers rather than leaf springs)
Have had my Autotrail since new in 1991, 7 metres long and have never hit a ferry ramp or speed hump and as said before they ride and handle better than the higher models because they are low, also less steps to climb to get into them.
